Our project coordinators, POLITO, had the opportunity to promote to a non-specialised audience, including children, the GIGAGREEN project in particular and the processes and methodologies under the battery research and development in general. This was done as part of UNIGHT, an event framed in the European Researchers Night that was developed in their university, on September 27th.
The European Researchers’ Night is the largest science outreach event in Europe, featuring 58 projects across 25 countries. This free, public event invites participants to explore the world of science through interactive activities, meet local researchers, and discover how research impacts everyday life. It aims to engage the public, inspire young people in science careers, and promote research excellence.
At UNIGHT, POLITO staff explained, with a pedagogical view, the basics of our GIGAGREEN project. They also gave an overview of the work that they carry out in their centre. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from both junior researchers (such as Giorgio Montinaro) and senior, highly experienced researchers (such as SIlvia Bodoardo, our project coordinator). Lab-scale coin-cell assembly and pilot-scale roll-to-roll coating for electrode manufacturing were explained in a simple way and made understandable for the majority.
