GIGAGREEN’s strategic plan aligns with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. Our project’s focus on developing and upscaling novel electrode and cell manufacturing processes with minimised environmental impact and energy consumption embodies the essence of SDG12’s objectives. By emphasising designs that facilitate reusability, disassembly, and increased cost-efficiency while ensuring safety, GIGAGREEN develops responsible consumption and production practices in the Li-ion battery industry.
Additionally, GIGAGREEN’s commitment to integrating recycling methodologies into the production chain, including metals, plastics, active materials, and electrolytes, is also in line with SDG12’s mission of promoting sustainable consumption and production patterns, reducing waste generation, and advocating for efficient use of resources. By targeting not only the recycling of materials but also the development of sustainable approaches for the entire battery system, GIGAGREEN promotes circular economy principles.
