From August 31st until September 3rd, GIGAGREEEN’s project coordinator, Silvia Bodoardo, Full Professor at Politecnico di Torino, attended the ABAF conference in Brno (Czechia).
This 26th edition of the Advance Batteries, Accumulators and Fuel Cells event learned how useful GIGAGREEN can be for sustainable cell manufacturing as part of the Applications and Simulations section of the conference, where Silvia participated.
The innovations proposed in NoVOC centre on improvements of cell manufacturing process by integrating two novel electrode manufacturing processes into the currently available cell assembly process and demonstrate manufacturability of automotive cells in two formats (pouch and cylindrical) with no toxic organic solvent at the fraction of the cell manufacturing cost that is currently available today.
The greenSPEED project offers solutions for new sustainable electrode and cell manufacturing processes with reduced energy consumption, lower carbon footprint and ZERO Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emissions. To that aim, the project main target is developing a battery cell comprised of electrodes manufactured by innovative dry processes.
BatWoMan develops new sustainable and cost-efficient Li-ion battery cell production concepts, paving the way towards carbon neutral cell production within the European Union by energy-efficient, no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) processed electrodes, innovative dry room reducing concept with improved electrolyte filling; and low-cost and energy-efficient cell conditioning, namely wetting, formation and ageing.
DEFACTO aims to develop a multiphysic and multiscale modelling tool to improve the understanding of cell material behaviour and cell manufacturing process and to reduce the time and economic resources for the market uptake of cell innovations, facilitating new high capacity and high voltage Li-ion cell generation 3b batteries.
LiPLANET’s overall objective is to create a European innovation and production ecosystem by building a more competitive Lithium battery cell manufacturing ecosystem and increase the production of Lithium cells towards industrial scale. LiPLANET’s project brings together the most relevant European Lithium battery cell pilot lines and the main stakeholders of the battery sector.
BATTERY 2030+ brings together the most important stakeholders in the field of battery research and development to work on concrete actions that support the implementation of the European Green Deal, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the European Action plan on Batteries and the European SET-plan.
The Battery Interface Genome – Materials Acceleration Platform (BIG-MAP) project relies on the development of a unique R&D infrastructure and accelerated methodology that unites and integrates insights from leading experts, competences and data across the entire battery (discovery) value chain with Artificial Intelligence (AI), High Performance Computing (HPC), large-scale and high-throughput characterization and autonomous synthesis robotics.
BATT4EU is a Co-programmed Partnership established under Horizon Europe – the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union- that aims to achieve a competitive and sustainable European industrial value-chain for e-mobility and stationary applications.
It is a contractual public-private Partnership gathering – on the public side – the European Commission; and – on the private side – BEPA, which regroups all the battery stakeholders from the European Research community.
ASTRABAT aims to develop optimal Lithium-ion battery solutions for the increasing demands of the electric vehicle market in particular.
