Interview with Mariana Fernández, Head of Operations at Sustainable Innovations, company in charge of the dissemination, exploitation and financial management tasks within GIGAGREEN

How can communication and dissemination help to contribute achieving the project goals?

Effective communication and dissemination are important for achieving the goals of GIGAGREEN because they help to ensure that information about the project is accurately and effectively conveyed to all stakeholders. This includes project team members, citizens, policymakers, industry and any other individuals or groups that are involved in or affected by the project.

Dissemination, or the sharing of information about the project with a wider audience, can also contribute to achieve project objectives by increasing visibility and awareness of the project, and by engaging and involving the community in the project. This can support in the construction of a network of related initiatives with which GIGAGREEN can generate ideas and feedback to leverage the battery industry targets.

Overall, comprehensive communication and dissemination are key factors in achieving the goals of a project, as they help to ensure that everyone is working towards a common vision and that the project is successful in meeting its objectives.

What is the purpose behind the exploitation and IPR tasks?

The primary objective of the exploitation strategy is to effectively utilize the project’s findings through avenues of scientific, commercial, political, or societal exploitation, with the purpose of translating R&I initiatives into tangible benefits and impacts for society and the battery industry. Key Exploitable Results are any tangible or intangible output produced as a result of the project, such as knowledge with the potential for industrial or commercial application in research activities, or for developing, creating, or marketing a product or process, or providing a service, to support regulatory authorities.

GIGAGREEN will produce various types of Key Exploitable Results. Some of them will be used for partner-led additional research, some for standardisation and regulation-related activities, and yet others will be encouraged for adoption and mainstreaming among industrial stakeholders.

In this regard, the overall Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) strategy of the project is to ensure that partners can fully exploit those abovementioned results by protecting them with the necessary IP tools.
